The EU demands the abolition of US declared duties on steel and aluminum

The European Union should be exempted from US imposed penalties for steel and aluminum
This was stated by the European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström, writes DW.com.
"The European Union is a close ally of the United States, and we still believe that the EU should be excluded from these measures." In the coming days, I will seek greater clarity on this matter. US President Donald Trump has imposed on March 8 penalties for the import of aluminum and steel: 10 and 25 percent respectively. They will take effect in 15 days. Customs duties do not apply to US neighbors - Canada and Mexico.
Trump said he believes the EU's trade restrictions on US products are "very unfair". He also criticized Germany's actions in trade and defense matters.
The US president added that he was ready to negotiate if Europe "would show a corresponding aspiration."
