US President Donald Trump said oil prices were artificially inflated.
It is reported by Censor.NET with a link to the Twitter account of the President of the United States.
"It looks like the OPEC took an old one, with a record amount of oil everywhere, including fully loaded ships at sea, oil prices are artificially inflated! There is nothing good about it, and it can not be affordable!" - wrote Trump.
Look like OPEC is at it again. With record amounts of oil all over the place, including fully loaded ships in the sea, Oil prices are artificially very high! No good and will not be accepted!
The statement was made by the president against the background of the meeting of ministers of OPEC and non-OPEC countries involved in the oil price reduction agreement, which discussed the current state of the oil market and plans for its further implementation. All oil prices ran up all April, and eventually they updated their maximum markings from the end of 2014, reaching a level of $ 74 a barrel of Brent.
OPEC ministers jointly expressed their disagreement with the statement by D. Trump. According to OAU oil minister Sukhayl al-Mazrui, many factors, not just supply and demand, affect the price of oil. "We are still seeing an oversupply, but there are factors that we can not control, such as geopolitics," he told reporters.
"There is no such thing as artificial oil prices. Prices are determined by the market," said D. Thrump, Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia Khalid Al Falih.
"The US oil and gas industry will benefit from the efforts of OPEC," added the secretary general of the cartel, Mohammed Barkindo.
Meanwhile, oil has shifted from growth to decline on the statements of D. Trump. By 14:40, Brent quotes a decline of 0.6% in June, to $ 73.33 a barrel, and a May futures price of WTI - by 0.6%, to $ 67.89. To the tweet of the American president oil prices rose by 03-04%.
