The leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-il, stands for the unification of the Korean Peninsula. He stated this during a joint press conference with President of South Korea, Mong Zhe Ying.

This is reported by CNN.

"We are not the people who have to resist each other, we must live in unity. We waited a long time when this moment would happen. All of us, "said Kim Jong Ying.

Also, the DPRK leader said that the population of both countries is the only people to be reunited in the future.

"By the way that I used today, I sincerely hope that every citizen of South and North Korea will be able to use it," the leader of the DPRK said.

Kim Chen Ying also said he believes in the reunification of the Korean people who can enjoy peace and prosperity without fear of war.

Recall that the leaders of the two Koreas met on April 27 in Phanmunzhom, a city in a demilitarized zone. It was there in 1953 that a ceasefire was agreed upon, which served as the actual end of the Korean War. However, the formal agreement on its completion then and never signed.

The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-il, and President of South Korea, Moon Zhe Ying, will sign a treaty that will formally put an end to the Korean War, which lasted from 1950-1953.
