In Britain, cannabis products will be available

In the UK, physicians will be legally authorized to administer medical hemp from autumn.

This was announced by the Interior Minister of Britain Sajid Javed, reports BBC.

The Minister emphasized that medical hemp medicines that meet safety and quality standards should be legal in patients with "exceptional clinical need." The official government advisers on substances and the British head physician, Sally Davis, have individually come to the conclusion about the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.

The debate on the legalization of medical hemp in Britain has become a resonance after the government has exceptionally authorized the use of hemp for the treatment of the 12-year-old boy Billy Caldwell, who has a severe form of epilepsy. He and his mother flew to Canada to buy hemp medical hemp, but upon returning to London, customs officers confiscated medicines. A few days later, Billy was hospitalized after several attacks.

"Recent cases involving ill children have made it clear to me that our position on drugs related to cannabis is not satisfactory. That is why we created an expert group to advise on license applications in exceptional circumstances. It will help patients with an exceptional clinical need, but in no way is the first step towards legalizing cannabis for recreational use, "the minister said.

Now the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Agency for the Management of Medicinal Products and Medical Devices will establish a clear definition of what is a cannabis product so that it can be added to the list of authorized products and assigned.

Previously, hemp medicines were allowed to be prescribed in Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria.

In May, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria took actions to fully legalize marijuana .

Since January California has legalized marijuana for recreational purposes.

In the summer of 2018, Canada became the first of the G7 countries to fully allow the use of cannabis, in particular for recreational purposes, at the national level.
