Trump weakened control over greenhouse gas emissions by US TPPs

US Presidential Administration Donald Trump issued a plan to abolish standards that ensured federal control over the level of greenhouse gas emissions by American thermal power plants.

Federal regulation of carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants was proposed during Barack Obama's presidency. After the abolition of federal supervision, each state will be able to independently determine the limits of emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

According to experts, such a move could lead to a sharp increase in electricity production by coal-fired power plants and, as a result, lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere.

"The Trump initiative and the Environmental Protection Agency under its control minimize all attempts to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere that cause climate change," said Lisa Lynch, a lawyer at the Council for the Protection of Natural Resources.

At the same time, Trump's initiative was supported by the miners' association, which called Obama's decision on federal control over carbon emissions "illegal".

As noted, Trump announced his decision while staying in West Virginia, the second largest coal mine in the US. During the election campaign, Trump promised to "open these mines."

Earlier, it was reported that due to global warming by the year 2100 in Africa, more than 50% of the species of animals and birds would disappear.

Also, US President Donald Trump has said that the United States can return to the Paris climate agreement.
