There is "a wealth of evidence" that Syrian government troops are preparing to use chemical weapons in Idlib province.
According to censor.NET, referring to DW, on Thursday, September 6, a new special representative of the United States Secretary of State for Syria, Jim Jeffrey, said Reuters.
The official did not explain what specific evidence is being said.
"I am absolutely convinced that we have very serious reasons to make such warnings," said Jeffrey.
He stressed that the US authorities regard any offensive against Idlib as "an unreasonable escalation".
According to Jeffrey, the offensive by the Syrian and Russian troops on the Idlib, as well as the use of chemical weapons, could lead to a large flow of refugees to Turkey.
He recalled that the fate of Idlib will be resolved on September 7 at a meeting of supporters of Assad - Russia and Iran, as well as an insurgent ally - Turkey.
"Tomorrow we will find out if the Russians are ready to compromise with the Turks," said the Special Representative on Syria.
