In the United States, refusing to admit refugees and allowing them to enter the country in 2019 is not 45, but 30 thousand.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced a new constraint on September 17, reports BBC.
Also, in 2019, more than 280,000 asylum seekers are being processed by the United States.
Refugee restrictions for 2019 are the lowest since 2002, when after September 11, 2001, only 27,113 refugees were allowed into the country.
In the last ten years, the smallest number of refugees in the US allowed in 2007 - 48 282 people, the lowest - 84 995 people - in 2016.
As of 2018, the US authorities allowed only about half the permitted number of refugees to enter the country.
Humanitarian organization Refugees International has named the new restriction "stunning".
Secretary of State Pompeo commented on the indignation of human rights defenders and said that "it is not necessary to consider limiting the number of refugees as the only indicator of America's concern about vulnerable people around the world."
On June 20, President Donald Trump signed a decree abolishing the separation of families of illegal migrants to the United States.
Earlier, Trump promised to take measures to stop the policy of separating the families of illegal migrants in order to "keep families together".
Prior to this, former US First Lady Laura Bush condemned the policy of the current government, which "breaks down the families of migrants."
Criticizing discriminatory policies, but not her husband, was also the first lady in the US, the wife of Trump, Melania Trump.
On July 27, more than 1,800 migrant children were reunited with their families in the United States.
