A restaurant in the US "calms" lobsters with marijuana for humane cooking

A restaurant in the American state of Maine uses marijuana to calm the lobsters before they are cooked. The institution considers it its responsibility to apply more humane practices for the preparation of live crayfish or the like.

This is reported by the Air Force.

Lobster is usually put into a pan and boiled or steamed. The Air Force notes that there is an increasing number of scientists who believe that lobsters, crayfish, crabs are still able to feel pain.

Visitors to the Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound restaurant, however, can choose if they want to order a cooking lobster or a "soothing" marijuana.

The owner of the Charlotte Hill restaurant said that the use of marijuana even contributes to the fact that the lobster meat ultimately becomes more delicious, since it is more relaxed when cooking.

"If we are going to take life, we have to be responsible and do it as humanely as possible," says Hill.

In the state of Maine, marijuana is allowed, as in at least nine states.

In January 2018, Switzerland decided that lobsters should be stunned before cooking.

Previously, in Italy, the court banned restaurants from keeping live lobsters on ice.
