The Swedish Parliament has dismissed the prime minister of the country

The Swedish Parliament declared a vote of no confidence and dismissed the Prime Minister and leader of the Social Democratic Party, Stefan Leuven.

It is noted that Leuven became the first Swedish prime minister to be dismissed by such a vote.

A total of 204 out of 349 Swedish MPs voted to dismiss Leuven on Tuesday morning, 25 September. During the vote among the deputies nobody could abstain.

"For the North Atlantic Alliance, it is obvious that Sweden needs a new government," said Ellie Christenssson, leader of the Moderate Coalition Party of Sweden.

Now Parliament Speaker Andreas Norelen calls for an attempt to form a new government. Meanwhile, Leuven intends to lead the interim government within a few weeks or months, until the new head of prime minister is appointed.

Leuven told reporters after the vote that he was still "ready to remain prime minister if he was asked to do so."

He also said he was ready to "negotiate to seek compromises between the two sides."

The parliamentary elections of September 9 in Sweden did not leave any of the main party blocs of Sweden with an absolute majority, with ultra-righties gaining the third place - 17.6% of the vote.

To form the majority in Sweden, you must have at least 175 seats in the parliament. None of the big centrist coalitions failed to get them primarily because of the high result of right-wing radicals, which indicates a long and difficult period of negotiations on the formation of a new government.

Leuven called on politicians to cooperate, and citizens do not speculate on election results.
