The EU promises the US "lightning-fast response" in the event of an increase in tolls on cars

This was announced by the spokesman of the EC in Brussels, writes  Deutsche Welle.

"The European Commission (EC) has promised a quick response to the possible introduction by the United States of increased customs duties for cars manufactured in the EU," the report said.

According to the representative of the European Commission, the reaction of Brussels to such actions of Washington will be "quick and appropriate."

It is noted that on the eve of the US Department of Commerce, President Donald Trump presented a report on possible threats to US national security, which is the import of European cars and auto parts. What conclusions does this report contain is still unknown.

Before this, the size of possible import duties was estimated at 25 percent. The Trump administration plans not only to protect the American car industry, but also to reduce the US foreign trade deficit and increase revenues to the US budget.
