The US president admitted that generals are waiting for victory over the ISIL not earlier than in 2 years, but he himself considers this term "too long."
This was Donald Trump speaking during a speech at a conference of conservative politicians, reports Censor.NET with reference to CNN.
"Yesterday or tomorrow 100% of the caliphate will be defeated," said the president of the United States.
According to Trump, his generals believe that for the victory over the ISIL it takes 2 years. But the head of state does not agree with them.
Trump said that during his visit to Iraq, he talked with troops who said that the "Islamic state" could be destroyed more quickly if several attacks were carried out from a multitude of points.
CNN notes that only a few days ago, on February 28, during a visit to Alaska, Trump said that US troops had already defeated 100% of the "Islamic State."
On March 2, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the start of an operation to release the last Bugouz-controlled ISIL militants in Syria. An SDF spokesman, Mustafa Bali said, the fall of Buguz will be an important milestone in the global campaign against the "Islamic state", but ISIL fighters continue to resist using guerrilla tactics and holding some deserted lands.
In the Pentagon, it is believed that without a constant military pressure, the ISIL will be able to regain territory in Syria in half a year.
