Congressmen filed a lawsuit against Trump for breach of the constitution

Members of the House of Representatives filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump due to misuse of funds for building a wall with Mexico.

This is stated in a statement by the speaker of the lower house of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi, reports to Ukrinform.

The House of Representatives of the United States, controlled by the Democrats, sued Donald Trump, accusing him of not targeting money to build a wall on the border with Mexico, Ukrinform reported.

"Today, the House of Representatives is taking repeat steps to protect the constitution from the president's brazen assault, as well as to protect our democracy," the statement said.

It is noteworthy that President Trump's decision to introduce a state of emergency in order to obtain money for the construction of a wall is a direct violation of the provisions of the US constitution that relate to appropriations.

It is noted that the US Constitution establishes the exclusive authority of the Congress over the allocation of federal funds.

"The Congress has an honorary responsibility to protect its exclusive constitutional rights and our system of checks and balances, and the integrity of our democratic institutions is on the horizon, and we will not allow the president to disrespect the constitution," the document says.
