Europe is not only affected by the agricultural embargo, which Russia imposed on the supply of food products from a number of Western countries, but in the last year, even increased its food exports by 5%. In monetary terms, it amounted to 105.6 billion euros, 4.8 billion euros more than in the period from August 2013 till May 2014. These conclusions follow from the report, made public on the website of the European Commission to the anniversary of the introduction of Russian kontrsanktsy.
"Major progress has been achieved thanks to an increase in exports of the product in the United States, China, Switzerland and a number of Asian markets, particularly Hong Kong and South Korea," - says in the document.
According to the European Commission, significantly increased exports of meat, meat and dairy products, but the production of vegetables and fruits, in contrast, fell by 12 and 10 percent, respectively. "This is not surprising, since Russia was a key market for European farmers among the non-European markets", - the report says.
According to the European Commission, the European supply of products in South Korea rose 30.8 percent in China - 30, Turkey - 27.1 in Hong Kong - 24.8, in Egypt - is 21.7, and in the US - by 15.1 percent. The report states that the measures aimed at reducing the losses due to Russian sanctions were successful.
