The Czech government on Wednesday approved amendments to the Constitution, which provide for the restriction of the powers of the President.
"The head of state will lose, in particular the possibility, without the consent of the supreme body of executive authority to negotiate international agreements", - said the Minister of Human Rights, the Equal Opportunities and Legal Affairs, Jiri Dienstbier, adding that the president would only be able to ratify the treaty.
Thus, the government will determine the internal and external policies of the state. In addition, changes to the deprivation of the right to appoint the president of the Board of Directors of the Czech National Bank, without prior approval by the Senate.
For these changes to the Constitution have voted all the ministers except one. By law, constitutional amendments must be approved by the necessary majority of deputies of both chambers of the Czech Parliament.
