Ukraine crisis. News in brief. Thursday 18 May, [Ukrainian sources]

Rada revokes "Savchenko law"

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, May 18, adopted the bill #5534 which cancels the possibility to recount imprisonment terms as stipulated by the so-called "Savchenko law," counting one day of pretrial detention as two days of imprisonment.

Censor.NET reports.

The bill was supported by 227 MPs.

The new bill stipulates that pretrial detention now counts on day-per-day basis instead of "one day of pretrial detention as two days of imprisonment" basis, as stipulated by the "Savchenko law."

The bill also allows the court take the pretrial detention term into account and either commute a sentence or release a convict from the term.
