US demands from Russia to dismiss Ukrainian Karpyuk: He was sentenced to 22 years in prison for fabricated accusations
The Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine requires the Russian Federation to dismiss an illegally sentenced Ukrainians, Mykola Karpyuk. American diplomats emphasize that Karpyuk was sentenced to false accusations in Russia.
This is stated in a statement by the US Embassy in Ukraine, which was promulgated at the account of the American diplomatic representation in Tweeter, reports Censor.NET.
"# Lawlessness30stories: Russia arrested Ukrainian activist Nikolai Karpyuk during his visit to Russia in 2014 and sentenced him to 22 years in jail for fabricated charges, and Russia should release Karpyuk! #FreeKarpyuk", - the statement said.
We remind that on October 26, 2016, the Supreme Court of Russia recognized the legal conviction of Ukrainian citizens, Mykola Karpyuk and Stanislav Klich, who were sentenced to 22.5 and 20 years in prison, respectively. According to the Russian investigation, Klych and Karpyuk were members of the UNA-UNSO organization, and in the late 1994 - early 1995 they fought against the Russian federal forces in the armed formations of the self-proclaimed republic Ichkeria.
