The Special Representative of the US State Department Robert Papp said that cooperation with Russia in the Arctic is of great importance for the United States, including in the framework of the Arctic Council, said "RIA Novosti" .
At a roundtable on the activities of the United States in the region, he said that the Arctic Council is based on consensus, and that "it is very important to stay with Russia at the negotiating table."
"I work a lot with their Russian counterparts to maintain dialogue and cooperation", - said Papp.
Earlier it was reported that the administration of US President Barack Obama has allowed the energy company Shell to carry out drilling in the Arctic.
