U.S. warns Turkey against 'insinuations' of involvement in coup attempt
The U.S. has warned Turkey against "public insinuations" of American involvement in a failed military coup, saying such claims are "utterly false and harmful" to their relations, according to BBC News.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was speaking after Turkey's labor minister suggested the U.S. was behind the coup, BBC News reports. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has earlier called on the U.S. to extradite U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen. Erdogan has accused him of being behind the plot, which Gulen denies.
