In the third round Guterres received 11 votes in support
The former Portuguese prime minister Antonio Guterres still leads the race for the seat of the UN Secretary General after the third round of a secret ballot of the Security Council, reports Reuters.
It is noted that in the third round Guterres received 11 votes in support. In this case, three voted against his candidacy. Another member of the UN Security Council called neutral.
Earlier it was reported that the Foreign Minister of Montenegro withdrew his candidacy in the election of the UN Secretary General.
In turn, the acting secretary general Ban Ki-moon, whose authority expires on January 1, 2017, said he wanted to see a woman at the head of the United Nations.
