During the regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which starts in Strasbourg on Monday, it will be considered the question of depriving the Russian delegates authority.
The question of "the cancellation of the previously confirmed the powers of the Russian delegation" should be put to a vote in the plenary hall of the Assembly on Wednesday.
Consideration of this issue was planned in advance - in January, the Assembly reaffirmed the authority of the Russian Federation with a number of constraints, it was decided that in June, PACE will return to this issue and may deprive Russia of all the rights in the framework of this body if Moscow does not show progress on settlement conflict with Ukraine. Then, in response to these sanctions, the delegation of the Russian Federation announced that binds work of the Assembly.
A report prepared for the June session, the speaker of the Russian question, the Austrian Stefan Shennah, acknowledged that the Russian Federation has not taken any action to return to the legal field. At the same time it offers the Assembly to refrain from further sanctions against the Russian Federation.
The proposal Rapporteur's recommendation, the final decision rests with the Assembly.
