Erdogan stepped up against Trump in Jerusalem and announced an important step
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his intention to open an embassy in his country in East Jerusalem.
Writes Reuters.
Speaking to one-party members on December 17, Erdogan stated that the Consul General of Turkey in Jerusalem was officially represented by the ambassador.
"By the will of the Most High, the day is near, when we officially, with the permission of the Most High, will open our embassy here," - said the Turkish leader.
Recall that on December 7, US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel and ordered the transfer of Tel Aviv from the US embassy to this city.
Following this statement, Erdogan initiated an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). At this event, leaders of Muslim countries did not agree with Washington's decision and recognized East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
