In the negative scenario, the lack of clarity regarding the trade regime may cost the Netherlands 2-4.5% of GDP
The head of the Dutch government, Mark Rutte, on Tuesday, January 9, called on the official London to clarify the format of future relations after the UK leaves the EU. He made this request after meeting with the main negotiator for Brexit from the EU, Mishael Barney. This is reported by the Reuters news agency .
According to Rutte, a transitional period, which, according to the vision of Teresa May, should last for two years, starting in March 2019, must first of all minimize negative consequences for citizens and business. The head of the Dutch government also supported the concept that Barnier is the main negotiator representing the EU on Brexit.
The exit from the UK with the EU without an agreement on the format of the future trade regime may cost the Netherlands a few percent of GDP. According to various estimates, the lack of clarity in the trade regime could mean a loss of 2% to 4.5% of GDP by 2030.
As reported, Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbin insists that Britain can not be a member of the single EU market after the withdrawal from this integration association.
