The hackers broke the Tesla cloud to hide the cryptic currency

The Tesla account in the Amazon cloud service has been hacked by unknown hackers. However, they did not steal anything, but just set the power of the cloud on the crypt craft

Redlock specialists have discovered the Tesla hacking problem in January. They were looking for the owner of the Amazon Web Services account, who published data for using the open source cloud. It turned out that the leakage came from Maska.

Hackers have access to Tesla through the Kubernetes console, which is designed to optimize cloud applications. She was not password-protected, and the data was saved to the company's account.

By accessing the profile, they could take over any "cloud" information, including particularly sensitive data such as telemetry of machines. However, the company immediately contacted Tesla, which quickly corrected the situation: customer data did not suffer.

"We tested the vulnerability in a few hours after receiving the information, but it was apparent that the attack only affected internal machine tests." Our internal investigation did not reveal a security breach of customer and machine data, "Tesla spokeswoman said.

According to RedLock, property for intruders was more valuable than any data stored in the Tesla cloud. However, they set up a malicious script so that it works imperceptibly and consumes insignificant power of equipment. They also used a non-standard Internet port, and their IP addresses were concealed using the Cloudflare service.

Experts noted that 58% of organizations now use public cloud services such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and at least 8% of companies are faced with similar incidents.

"The recent takeoff of cybercriminals has made hackers more lucrative for theft of power than data from companies. Public clouds are an ideal target, because there are no effective software to protect them," says Gur Kumar, RedLock Technical Director.
