The EU requires Facebook to provide explanations on the leakage of user data

The European Union asks for an explanation from Facebook's social network due to a scandal surrounding the leakage of data from personal information of tens of millions of users.

This was stated by European Commissioner for Justice Vera Yurova in an interview with the publication of the publication Bild am Sonntag, reports  Deutsche Welle.

"I demand from Facebook further explanations, for example, to what extent this has affected European users," she said.

According to her, "this abuse of the data of 50 million Facebook users is completely unacceptable."

Yurov also stressed that the government and responsible US agencies assured the EU that they "take all the charges extremely seriously and work on preparing the necessary measures."

"This scandal should be a signal for all of us. The way we treat our own personal data can have massive consequences." Finally, it's about the foundations of our democracy, "Yurov said.

-Recall that the scandal broke out after it became known that the British data analysis company  Cambridge Analytica  collected in 2016 profile profiles of 50 million social network users Facebook without their consent to use in the election campaign of Donald Trump.

-The board of the British consulting company Cambridge Analytica  dismissed the general director of  Alexander Niks.

-Mark Zuckerberg admitted that the company "made a mistake".

-The European Parliament and Government of Germany have also asked Zuckerberg to provide explanations for the personal data abuse situation that Cambridge Analytica managed.
