Hot peace: in the United States, it is interesting to describe relations with Russia
At the moment, relations between the US and Russia can be described as "hot peace", not " cold war".
This was written by former US ambassador to the United States Michael McFaul in his article for Globe and Mail.
The diplomat stressed that in the current relations between Russia and the United States there are some features of the Cold War, but there is also a new dynamism that may be more dangerous.
"As during the Cold War, Russia and the United States remain the world's nuclear superpowers, the only ones capable of undermining the entire planet. The real nuclear war is not so strong today due to nuclear arms control agreements, which contributed to a substantial reduction in the nuclear arsenal of the two countries. Russia and the US) we can still destroy each other in a few minutes, "McFaul said.
According to him, the "hot peace" contributed to the transition of the nuclear arms race from "quantitative" to "qualitative", and soon "the Cold War may seem a period of stability."
In addition, today's "hot peace" differs from the "cold war" by the readiness of the Russian President Vladimir Putin "to use force in a risky way." McFaul recalled the murder and poisoning of the Kremlin by opponents and traitors, the cyber attack on Estonia, the invasion of Georgia and Ukraine, the support of the Syrian leader Bashar Assad, and the interference in elections in the West.
"Although Putin is still far from Khrushchev's policy of trying to deploy nuclear missiles in Cuba, Russia's behavior in the international arena seems more unpredictable than during the last decades of the Cold War." Is it better to have a hot world or a cold war? "I think so, but I'm not sure, "- concluded the diplomat.

Russia is preparing for a civil war: the network indicated an obvious sign
The emergence of the so-called "Cossacks" in protest actions in Russia, dedicated to the inauguration of Vladimir Putin, is a signal of the Kremlin's dangerous plans to organize a civil war.
Such an opinion on his Facebook page was written by writer and journalist Victor Shenderovich.
He pointed to the important feature that the "Cossacks" in the actions beat people "under the guise of men."
"At the same time, with the Novitsky people, the men decided today for the Putin regime the old task of intimidating the society, but on a new level, the Okidkami, the known attacks on democratic activists, was given a clear blockbuster for massive street violence, which are state and official garbage, and not just a group of aggressive brawlers, and this must be understood absolutely clearly", - said Shenderovich.
According to the journalist, behind all this is a dangerous scenario, which is ready to implement the Russian authorities.
"It is equally clear that one should understand that it is up to the authorities to resolve this resource, and forcing one part of society to another means that the government is considering - and already testing - the organization of a civil war as an instrument for political manipulation, and this is very and very serious.
This nasty joker lies in the sleight of any authoritarian power: to arrange some kind of dangerous neglect, to leave then with a rigorous face and to roll over to asphalt in general all - in the interests, of course, public safety! From this point, my thoughts can be handed over to the Hiro and the murder of Kirov, the arson of the Reichstag, and the blown up homes on the Kashirskoye highway... Not for democratic procedures, comrades, the country is in danger!"- Shenderovich explained.
According to the journalist, this is explained by Putin's desire to remain in power and for the sake of achieving this goal, he is not in a position to stop.
"Putin is nowhere to go, and it's nothing to shy about him (at least after the inauguration of the past), he will not go from power and drink the democratic bourgeois to him late." No, the most criminal and mortally dangerous resource for Russia will not seem to be superfluous for this person when it will be on the horse stand for the preservation of personal power. It is preparing for different options and, in a sense, is ready for everything for a long time. "This is something we must also understand absolutely firmly," Shenderovich summed up.

Russians believe that Putin has made the RF big but poor - a poll of Levada Center
Participants of the poll conducted by Levada-center named the main, in their opinion, successes and failures of Vladimir Putin's third term as president.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to RBC.
According to the publication, the main successes of Putin, the respondents acknowledged "the return of Russia to the status of a great reputable state" (47% of participants) and the stabilization of the situation in the North Caucasus (38%).
The main claims to Putin's work relate to the social sphere. Thus, 45% of the polls said that the president failed to ensure a fair distribution of income, while 39% indicated that ordinary people failed to recover the money they had lost during the reforms (39%).

32% of respondents said that the president was unable to raise wages, pensions, scholarships and assistance. In March 2015, when a preliminary survey was conducted, only 15% of the respondents chose this answer.
In general, from the Levada data center, it follows that from 2015 the number of Russians who indicate the failure of the head of state increases, while the assessment of his success is likely to decrease. According to respondents, the president returned to Russians a sense of pride in their country thanks to foreign policy successes, but the dissatisfaction with the socio-economic policy of power has increased, as Russia remains a "poor country with a poor quality of life and state."
The poll was conducted on April 20-24, 2018, on a representative all-Russian sample. 1600 people were interviewed in 136 settlements of 52 regions.

The Moscow government funded the "Cossack army" that attacked the protesters
In Moscow, at the rallies "He is not king", they were dressed in a Cossack form by people who attacked protesters, received funding from the Russian government for training on public order protection at mass events.
As informs Censor.NET, the Russian edition of The Bell reports.
During a detailed study of photos from the protest action, the publication drew attention to photos of people in the form, which had a stamp "Central Cossack troops." The same patch is on the site of the military Cossack Society "Central Cossack army".
It is the society that describes itself as follows: "The Cossacks are actively involved in the military patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, in the preparation of pre-conspirators from among the Cossack youth to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and in other law-enforcement structures, and develop new Cadet Cossack classes, military patriotic and sports clubs."
According to the RF legislation, the Cossacks are registered as an interregional public organization.
According to the information resource "Miracles OSINT", in 2016-2018, "Cossacks" received from the government of Moscow three contracts for 15.9 million rubles. The purpose of the contracts was to "train and consolidate the necessary knowledge and applied skills while carrying out activities for the protection of public order, ensuring security during public and mass events in Moscow."
In March of this year on the site of Moscow City Hall there were photographs of training of the Cossack army. They, in particular, learned to detain potential offenders.
The publication of the "Central Cossack Army" company on the site Tearin.ru said that it together with the RGG will guarantee safety at the World Cup.
The Bell observes that journalists were not able to call the "Central Cossack Army", and the ataman troops Ivan Mironov did not answer calls either.
At the same time, it is noted that according to the database, the surname and the name of the ataman coincide with the data of the former deputy head of the government of the Samara region, Lieutenant-General of the FSB stockpile.
Recall that the shares under the general title "He is not king" were held May 5 throughout Russia and confined to the inauguration of President Vladimir Putin, which will be held on May 7.
In several cities, in particular Moscow and St. Petersburg, they were not coordinated by local authorities. In some regions, the detention of activists began before the actions.

France made an unexpected statement regarding the resignation of Putin's Syrian friend
Ambassador of France to Russia, Silvio Bermann, said that Paris would not require the unconditional resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad , who is known to support the Kremlin.
Such a statement was made by a French diplomat in an interview with the Kommersant publication.
"We will not decide for the Syrian people, but the demand for the unconditional resignation of Bashar al-Assad does not go any further," said Bermann.
"The idea, which was formulated at the Sochi Congress of the Syrian National Dialogue and approved by the UN Special Representative for Syria, envisaged the formation of a constitutional committee to work out a new constitution, but it seems to me that the Syrian regime is not doing so yet," the ambassador also said.
At the same time, Bermann noted that the current focus on Paris is to fight terrorism. Another exciting issue for France is the refugee problem.
"We would like the Syrians to stay in their country, and this requires a political solution. It is impossible for someone to succeed in bringing the country back to the militants and Bashar al-Assad remained in power," the diplomat said.
