At the moment, relations between the US and Russia can be described as "hot peace", not " cold war".

This was written by former US ambassador to the United States Michael McFaul in his article for Globe and Mail.

The diplomat stressed that in the current relations between Russia and the United States there are some features of the Cold War, but there is also a new dynamism that may be more dangerous.

"As during the Cold War, Russia and the United States remain the world's nuclear superpowers, the only ones capable of undermining the entire planet. The real nuclear war is not so strong today due to nuclear arms control agreements, which contributed to a substantial reduction in the nuclear arsenal of the two countries. According to him, the "hot peace" contributed to the transition of the nuclear arms race from "quantitative" to "qualitative", and soon "the Cold War may seem a period of stability."

The emergence of the so-called "Cossacks" in protest actions in Russia, dedicated to the inauguration of Vladimir Putin, is a signal of the Kremlin's dangerous plans to organize a civil war.

Such an opinion on his Facebook page was written by writer and journalist Victor Shenderovich.

He pointed to the important feature that the "Cossacks" in the actions beat people "under the guise of men."

"At the same time, with the Novitsky people, the men decided today for the Putin regime the old task of intimidating the society, but on a new level, the Okidkami, the known attacks on democratic activists, was given a clear blockbuster for massive street violence, which are state and official garbage, and not just a group of aggressive brawlers, and this must be understood absolutely clearly", - said Shenderovich.

According to the journalist, behind all this is a dangerous scenario, which is ready to implement the Russian authorities.

"It is equally clear that one should understand that it is up to the authorities to resolve this resource, and forcing one part of society to another means that the government is considering - and already testing - the organization of a civil war as an instrument for political manipulation, and this is very and very serious.

This nasty joker lies in the sleight of any authoritarian power: to arrange some kind of dangerous neglect, to leave then with a rigorous face and to roll over to asphalt in general all - in the interests, of course, public safety! From this point, my thoughts can be handed over to the Hiro and the murder of Kirov, the arson of the Reichstag, and the blown up homes on the Kashirskoye highway... Not for democratic procedures, comrades, the country is in danger!"- Shenderovich explained.



According to the journalist, this is explained by Putin's desire to remain in power and for the sake of achieving this goal, he is not in a position to stop.

Participants of the poll conducted by Levada-center named the main, in their opinion, successes and failures of Vladimir Putin's third term as president.

According to the publication, the main successes of Putin, the respondents acknowledged "the return of Russia to the status of a great reputable state" (47% of participants) and the stabilization of the situation in the North Caucasus (38%).

The main claims to Putin's work relate to the social sphere. Thus, 45% of the polls said that the president failed to ensure a fair distribution of income, while 39% indicated that ordinary people failed to recover the money they had lost during the reforms (39%).

32% of respondents said that the president was unable to raise wages, pensions, scholarships and assistance. In March 2015, when a preliminary survey was conducted, only 15% of the respondents chose this answer.

In general, from the Levada data center, it follows that from 2015 the number of Russians who indicate the failure of the head of state increases, while the assessment of his success is likely to decrease. According to respondents, the president returned to Russians a sense of pride in their country thanks to foreign policy successes, but the dissatisfaction with the socio-economic policy of power has increased, as Russia remains a "poor country with a poor quality of life and state."

The poll was conducted on April 20-24, 2018, on a representative all-Russian sample. 1600 people were interviewed in 136 settlements of 52 regions.

Ambassador of France to Russia, Silvio Bermann, said that Paris would not require the unconditional resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad , who is known to support the Kremlin.

"We will not decide for the Syrian people, but the demand for the unconditional resignation of Bashar al-Assad does not go any further," said Bermann.

"The idea, which was formulated at the Sochi Congress of the Syrian National Dialogue and approved by the UN Special Representative for Syria, envisaged the formation of a constitutional committee to work out a new constitution, but it seems to me that the Syrian regime is not doing so yet," the ambassador also said.

At the same time, Bermann noted that the current focus on Paris is to fight terrorism. Another exciting issue for France is the refugee problem.

"We would like the Syrians to stay in their country, and this requires a political solution. It is impossible for someone to succeed in bringing the country back to the militants and Bashar al-Assad remained in power," the diplomat said.
