US President Donald Trump visited the armed forces in Germany after he came to Iraq without warning

This was his first presidential visit to the location of US troops in this troubled region, informs Radio Liberty.

On December 27, Trump painted on red baseball caps with his pre-election slogan Make America Great Again, and shook hands with dozens of soldiers at the Rammstein air base in Germany. His plane was there refueling on return flight from Iraq.

Trump arrived in Iraq on December 26 for the first time. The president's plane landed at an air base west of Baghdad late in the evening on December 26. The official representative of the White House, Sarah Sanders, said that Trump and his wife Melanie wanted to thank the military for their service and congratulate them on Christmas day.

Speaking to the troops, Trump said he had no plans to reduce the military contingent in Iraq. In Iraq there are several US military bases. The number of military contingents is about 5 thousand people.
