Germany does not renounce Russian gas, but will also receive it from other sources, - Merkel
Germany will continue to receive Russian gas, as well as liquefied gas from other sources
This was stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, reports Espresso.
"The rift around our energy supply is a bit exaggerated: we will continue to receive Russian gas, we will also receive liquefied gas from other sources, we will build a LNG infrastructure in all directions, and we will eventually begin to receive gas from the US," - she said.
Merkel stressed that by 2020, Germany plans to abandon nuclear energy. The Chancellor added that coal-fired power plants would be needed by the country for some time.
"If we abandon coal and nuclear power, we will need more natural gas, and, ultimately, energy resources should be available," she said.
According to Merkel, the transition to renewable energy is one of the main challenges for Germany.
"To my deep conviction, and every year it becomes increasingly clear that climate change is a huge challenge for all of us on this planet," the Chancellor said.

Hungary ready to encourage Ukraine’s European integration
Ambassador of Hungary to Ukraine István Íjgyártó said during his visit to the Zakarpattia region that positive developments in bilateral relations between Hungary and Ukraine have started to emerge.
Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
Íjgyártó mentioned that even though last year was difficult, he hopes to see positive developments in Ukraine-Hungary relations in the following year.
"It is unnatural for our nations to have strained relations. We have common goals, a lot of similar problems, and it is important for everyone to understand and realize that there have been no misunderstandings between Ukraine and Hungary in a very long time. And we should not have problems today," said Íjgyártó.
The ambassador stressed that the tensions in relations between two countries resulted in termination of important joint projects.
"We would like the progress and economic development we see in Hungary to start in Ukraine. Therefore, we primarily want to continue transport and road infrastructure cooperation with Ukraine," Íjgyártó said. This will significantly strengthen the links between the states, he added
Hungary is ready to contribute to the European integration of Ukraine, Íjgyártó emphasized.

The unification of Russia and Belarus: Moscow began to revise the alliance agreement with Minsk
The review takes place within the framework of the working group on integration. After Moscow, their proposals will have to be voiced by Minsk.
This was stated by Ambassador of Russia to Belarus, Mikhail Babich, reports Censor.NET with reference to "Interfax-Ukraine".
"The Russian part of the group has begun its work. At the moment, the inventory of all provisions of the Union agreement by blocks is underway: economic, social, public administration, security and military-technical cooperation. All aspects of the treaty, which were established in 1999, are considered by the relevant bodies authorities, "Babich said.
The ambassador noted that after the completion of this work Moscow will submit its proposals to Minsk for the development of counter-proposals. Then the working group will bring them to the attention of the presidents of the two countries.
The creation of a working group Lukashenka and Putin agreed at the end of 2018. Moscow raised this issue during tense talks on providing Minsk with compensation for expenses through the sale of tax maneuvers in the oil sector in Russia.
Babich also confirmed plans to expand military-technical cooperation between Russia and Belarus.
"Military-technical and military cooperation is developing very actively with us. Objectives which Russia and Belarus have set for themselves in terms of guaranteeing military security, of course, are being fulfilled," Babich said to journalists.

Tymoshenko promised to make Ukraine energy independent
Yulia Tymoshenko stated that in the event of a victory in the elections she will be able to provide Ukraine with energy independence for 5 years.
She stated this on Wednesday, December 23, in a comment to reporters after filing documents for registration with the CEC.
"Energy independence can become a reality for Ukraine. It should not be begged, energy independence needs to be acquired." I set myself the task, so that after 5 years I could report that Ukraine achieved full energy independence, and then we will strengthen our political independence. "- said Tymoshenko.
Batkivshchyna leader is convinced: Ukraine has enough deposits to supply itself with natural gas and coal, which today is also imported from abroad.
"We have enough uranium to provide ourselves with nuclear fuel and to help other countries, but we have not had our own nuclear fuel fabrication plant for decades," Tymoshenko said and expressed confidence that such a plant could be built in 5 years.
Also, according to the head of the party, in Ukraine "the development of renewable energy is at zero." But the Batkivshchyna team has a clear program to develop this direction, assured her leader.

Yulia Tymoshenko, a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine, said that in the event of a victory in the elections, she will not hold office and leave her in 100 days if she can not show "obvious results".
She said this on January 22 at the congress of the Batkivschyna party, reports censor.NET.
"The President of Ukraine, according to the Constitution, is given 5 years to complete his program, but believe me, it's 100 days long enough for the country to understand: whether it has won it or has fallen into it again, that's why 100 days - and clarity is complete, there is no need to wait five years," - she declared.
According to Ukrainian legislation, the powers of the head of state may be terminated ahead of schedule in case of resignation; the impossibility of fulfilling their powers in the state of health; removal from office in the order of impeachment; death.
"With full responsibility I declare. If the 100 days I can not show you the results are obvious, I just go with the presidency. These are my guarantee to you today," - she promised.
