The UN has criticized Israel for settlement despite Security Council resolution

Israel has taken no measures to comply with UN Security Council resolution of 23 December 2016, which called on the country to stop any of the settlement activities in the Palestinian territories

As the Special Coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Nikolay Mladenov, on the Israeli authorities approved the resolution significantly expanded activities related to settlement activities, informs Deutsche Welle .

According to Mladenov declared Israel's intention to conduct a large-scale adoption of the settlement activities and the relevant laws confirms the "clear intention to continue to expand the settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territory."

Spetskoordynator UN Middle East settlement said that the UN "believes all the settlement activity is illegal in terms of international law and a major obstacle to peace."

He expressed deep concern about the intentions of Israel to build 5,500 new homes in the Palestinian territories.

"The expansion of settlement activity undermines the very essence of the decision on the principle of" two states ", - said Mladenov.

For his part, the representative of Israel to the UN data Danone said the lack of "moral equality between the construction of buildings and murderous terrorism."

"The only obstacle to peace is violence and incitement by the Palestinians" - he said, adding that "this obsessive focus on Israel should be completed."
