Sat Sep 29, 2018 1:27 pm
On September 16, 2018, Facebook noticed the unusual activity of one of the functional elements (View as), as a result of an internal investigation, a combination of vulnerabilities was discovered, through which unknown people accessed accounts of at least 50+ million users. September 27 vulnerability was closed, one of the results was the deployment of a significant number of users (about 90+ million) from their accounts
This is reported on its page by the Laboratory of Digital Security.
If a particular user has not received any messages and is still locked up, it is most likely not included in the 90+ million users who have fallen victim (50+ million) or could be the victim of an attack (another 40+ million).
"At present, the amount of data that has" flowed out "from 50+ million accounts is not well known. The investigation of the incident continues, we will keep abreast," - noted in the Laboratory.
The results of the preliminary analysis indicate that access to intruders to private messages is unlikely, but this information may change as a result of further investigation.
At the same time, to date, the password is not necessary, it is unlikely that the attackers have access to passwords.
"Facebook has already replaced the scrambled access keys through which the attackers could access, so you had to be re-engineered to your account," experts say.
In addition, they recommend using two-factor authentication (2FA).

After a hacker attack, Facebook shares collapsed
Sat Sep 29, 2018 1:18 pm
Zuckerberg has lost about $2 billion because of attacks on the social network
The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has lost $2 billion a day after the attack on the social network, affecting about 50 million users.
Bloomberg reports.
Shares of the company shrank by 2.6% to $164.46 in New York. Thus, the shares of Facebook since the beginning of the year already fell by 6.8%, the report said.
Recall that on September 28, Facebook announced that there was a hacker attack on the social network, which resulted in access to personal pages of about 50 million people.
Another 90 million users are advised to take security measures.
In the Facebook code, there was a loophole for a feature called "View as" that allows the user to see how his account looks to someone else.
Vulnerability has allowed hackers to steal access tokens - numeric keys that allow users to log on to Facebook, so they do not need to re-enter passwords. Once logged in, attackers can take the page under control.
The company claims to have found a mistake on September 25th and only now began its own investigation. Facebook hopes to be able to figure out how the mistake was used and who. Facebook has informed law enforcement officers and the bug has been fixed. Also, Facebook completely turned off the "view as" feature.
