Facebook claims to have "committed a hacker attack" to the social network, which has resulted in access to personal pages of about 50 million people, about 90 million more advised to take security measures.
This is stated in a statement made public in the Facebook blog.
Because of the security vulnerability of Facebook, hackers could "intercept user records and see their most personal information".
The problem is related to the "view as" tool, which allows you to see your own profiles on behalf of other users.
According to the company, using this feature, hackers could steal a "access token" that protects accounts and then log in to them, explained on Facebook.
The company says it found a mistake on September 25th and only now began its own investigation. Facebook hopes that they will be able to figure out how "an error has been used and who".
It is reported that Facebook has informed the law enforcement officers and the error has been corrected.
Also, Facebook completely turned off the "view as" feature.
