In Britain, Facebook has been accused of selling personal data
Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:47 am
British parliamentarians accused social media of Facebook of selling personal user data and using anti-competitive practices.
This is stated in the report of the British government.
It should be noted that the report was made by the parliamentary committee on digital technologies, culture, media and sports. The authors claim that Facebook wanted to intercept their users' privacy settings so that a number of application developers could access the data.
The report said that a number of Facebook executives either deliberately mislead the legislators during the investigation or "deliberately did not inform" politicians about Russia's possible foreign interference. Also, according to parliamentarians there is evidence that foreign statesmen influenced the vote Brexit in 2016.
In response, Facebook rejected these claims. The social network assured that it made significant changes to its business policy and supported regulation in areas such as confidentiality. The fact of breach of any laws in the UK is denied by the company.
